Privacy at Opens App

Each app has its own privacy policy, because each one does something different with — and mostly without — your data. This page covers the website you are reading, and points you at the rest.

• Opens Audio Player

  A free player for the music, audiobooks and podcasts already on your phone — or downloaded from your own Google Drive. No ads, no subscription, no account.

• Ivy Todos

  A to-do app that runs the Ivy Lee Method: at the end of each day you rank tomorrow’s six tasks, then work them strictly in order. Local-only, with no account and no sync.

This website

The site is served by Firebase Hosting, which — like any web server — records the requests it serves, including IP addresses and browser user-agent strings, for security and reliability. Those logs are held by Google as our hosting provider.

We set no cookies of our own, and the site carries no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party scripts of any kind. Nothing on this site runs code in your browser.

The Build with us form

One page, Build with us, carries a form. If you submit it we receive what you typed — the problem you described, who else you say has it, what people use today, what you would bring to building it — and your email address. We use it to reply and to work out whether a collaboration makes sense, and for nothing else.

What you send is treated as private. It is not published, sold, or shared beyond the processor named below. Software built out of a collaboration is published openly, which is stated on the form's own page — the code is public, your submission is not.

We keep a submission for up to 12 months after our last contact about it, then delete it. Ask sooner and we will delete it sooner.

The contact form

The contact page also carries a form. If you submit it we receive the message you typed, your email address, and your name if you gave one. We use it to reply and for nothing else, and we keep it on the same 12-month basis as the Build with us form above.

The Swap closed testing form

The Swap testing form is the one form on this site that does not go through a third party: it reaches Opens App directly, on our own server. We receive your app's name, its opt-in link, your email address, and anything else you typed. Because we operate the receiving end, we also record the IP address and user agent the submission arrived from, to make abuse of an open form tractable. It is kept on the same 12-month basis as the other two.

Sub-processors

Two sub-processors are involved in this website: Firebase Hosting, operated by Google, to serve these pages, and Formspree, which receives Build with us and contact form submissions and forwards them to us. The Swap closed testing form above is the exception: it reaches us directly, with no processor in between. Google's handling is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and Formspree's by the Formspree privacy policy.
