Build something with us.
Opens App builds small software for itself and finishes it. Occasionally the more interesting version of that is building something with someone who actually has the problem — who knows the work, has the users, and can say why every existing tool gets it wrong.
This page is for that. Not a brief, not a quote. A description of something that should exist, from someone who would help build it.
What makes a good fit
- A problem you live with, not one you have read about.
- Enough people share it that software is worth writing, and you can say who they are.
- You would stay involved — answering questions, testing, telling us when it is wrong.
- Being built in the open is a feature for you, not a compromise.
What this is not
- Not an agency. There is no rate card, no proposal, and no capacity to take briefs.
- Not a request queue. Most submissions will get a reply and nothing else, and some will get nothing.
- Not a route to closed software. If the result needs to stay private, this is not the page.
What we build together is open-source
Software built out of one of these collaborations ships publicly under the Apache-2.0 licence — chosen for its patent grant, which protects both sides, and because it is the licence a company’s lawyers approve without a meeting.
That means the code is public. Your submission is not: what you send here is treated as private, and is not published, shared or repeated beyond the processor named in our privacy policy. But do not send anything that has to stay secret, because what gets built from it will not be.
Tell us what should exist
Four questions and an email address. They take some thought, deliberately — a considered answer is worth more to both of us than a quick one.
