Opens Audio PlayerYour audio, your files, your player.
A free player for the music, audiobooks and podcasts already on your phone — or downloaded from your own Google Drive. No ads, no subscription, no account.

What Opens Audio Player does
Opens Audio Player is a free audio player for Android and iOS. It finds the audio files already stored on your phone — music, audiobooks, podcasts, anything you own — and plays them offline. The app is free, carries no ads and no subscription, and the only time you sign in to anything is if you choose to connect Google Drive. Files are organised into tracks, albums, artists and playlists, using each file's embedded tags where they exist and its file name where they do not. Playback covers the things long listening needs: gapless tracks, speeds from 0.75× to 2×, skip silence, a sleep timer and a queue.
Why the app asks for Google Drive access
Many people keep their audio collection in Google Drive rather than on the phone itself. Connecting Drive is optional, and when you do, Opens Audio Player lists your files so you can pick the ones you want and downloads only those into the app, where they play offline like any other file. Access is read-only: the app never writes to your Drive, your files are never uploaded anywhere, and nothing passes through a server of ours, because there is no such server. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
What makes it different
Formats that matter
FLAC, ALAC, MP3, OGG and hi-res files, decoded natively. Nothing is transcoded behind your back.
Untagged files still land right
It reads embedded tags first and falls back to the file name, so a rip called "03 - Wildflowers - James Quinn" shows up correctly instead of vanishing into Unknown.
Built for long listening
Gapless playback, 0.75× to 2× speed, skip silence and a sleep timer — for audiobooks and podcasts as much as albums.
Free, and it stays free
No ads, no telemetry, no subscription — ever. Connect Google Drive only if you want to pull files down; everything else works offline.
A look inside

Why local-first
Streaming apps treat the music you already own as a second-class citizen: buried behind a sync toggle, re-tagged without asking, sometimes gone after an update. Opens Audio starts from the opposite assumption — the files on your device are the point. Ripped CDs, Bandcamp downloads, audiobooks, long DJ sets: they play, in order, at full quality, straight from the device.
